Andersons Marathon Ethanol has received a $100,000 state grant from Ohio for its ethanol plant construction project in Greenville, Ohio. The Andersons, which has one ethanol plant in Michigan and is building one in Indiana, will manage the new plants under the name of The Andersons Marathon Ethanol. Site selection for the initial plant is likely to be announced soon. Proceeds from the $100,000 Rapid Outreach grant will be used to acquire machinery and equipment for the 110 million gallon ethanol facility. The ethanol plant is a 50/50 joint venture between The Andersons, Inc. and Marathon Petroleum, a subsidiary of Marathon Oil. The two firms said last summer they planned to jointly develop plants to make the alternative vehicle fuel. The factories make fuel that has 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline. Ohio awards the grant to companies who create or retain jobs in Ohio.
